Stable & Secure

History

The structure was originally built as a commercial building in 1919.  It was first occupied by Western Motor Car Company, and later Sears & Roebuck. The original structure was renovated in 1962, when the exterior curtain wall was constructed and the upper floors converted to apartments, In 1967, a "north" tower and subterranean parking garage was constructed on the north half of the site. The building was condominiumized in December of 1983. The north building was dismantled in 2013.  For more historical photos, click here.

According to one historical report, the name of the property, Twin Towers, was not derived from the fact that there were, for a time, two buildings on the site (which did not look like identical twins), but rather from the two large stair towers that extended above the roof line on the north facade of the original structure.
